Head On (1998)
Nineteen-year-old Ari (Alex Dimitriades) walks out of a Greek wedding in Melbourne. He is young, handsome, unemployed and bisexual, alienated from just about everything. His father (Tony Nikolakopoulos) calls him an animal, his mother (Eugenia Fragos) pleads with him not to leave home. Ari's closest friend Johnny (Paul Capsis) is open about his cross-dressing, but Ari can't face the ostracism and derision that would follow coming out. Instead he seeks short-term ecstasy in large amounts of drugs and anonymous sex in seedy alleys and public toilets. The movie follows him and his friends through 24 hours of excess -- from a family party where he almost has sex with his best friend Betty (Elena Mandalis), to a Greek nightclub where Johnny arrives dressed as his mother, calling himself Toula; to a gay nightclub where he meets up with Sean (Julian Garner), an Anglo man he fancies. In the morning he stands on the docks at Williamstown, where thousands of Greek migrants first set foot in Australia. He dances a Greek dance, alone and still defiant.

The Visitor (2002)
Michael (Barry Otto) is avoiding phone calls regarding his dear friend and former lover Chris who is dying back in America. While trying to write, he is disturbed by the noisy surfers next door as they get ready for a weekend away of surf. C.K. (Nick Carpenter), one of the surfers, remains behind to surf the local beach. At the beach cafe for lunch with his old friend Angus, Michael again avoids discussing Chris back in America. Angus catches Michael watching C.K. on the beach and teases him but Michael denies any interest in the surfer. Left on his own, Michael watches C.K. catch a series of waves. After a big wave and a wipe out, C.K. disappears in the surf. Michael looses site of C.K. until he sees him on the beach taking off his wetsuit before he heads back home. Michael remains on the beach then makes his way home. Once inside his house, Michael sees C.K. walking towards him on his way to the living room where he makes himself at home. Michael does not know why the surfer is in his house but before the night is over he will discover more about himself than he may have been ready for.

Gold (2005). An aging artist who is losing his vision employs a drug-addicted street hustler to paint his paintings for him in a mutual quest for salvation. Gorgeously acted and written, this was our favorite short from the 2005 film festival circuit.

Feed (2005)
Whilst keeping a close watch over the underbelly of the internet, Phillip Jackson (Patrick Thompson), a hot shot cyber crime investigator in Sydney, finds a suspicious website for Feeders & Gainers -- the weird world of fat erotica; a sexual subculture where fat-admiring men known as “Feeders” seek out obese women called “Gainers.” But one of these men -- Michael Carter (Alex O'Loughlin) -- may be going too far as he is feeding his charges to death and publishing details online. Phillip tracks him to Toledo, Ohio, and goes there with no official order determined to uncover the sinister underworld. What he discovers may cost him his life… and even his sanity.
