"הבועה" מוגדר על ידי יוצריו, איתן פוקס וגל אוחובסקי כ"שיר אהבה לתל אביב". זהו סיפורם של צעירים תל אביביים החיים בלב תל אביב, בסביבה המכונה על ידי ישראלים רבים בשם "הבועה". אך כמו שמנסחת זאת אחת המשתתפות בסרט, בשיחה בבית קפה, "אנשים חיים בבועות. ההתנחלויות זה לא בועה? והקיבוצים שרדו פה שנים בכולם, זה לא היה בועה?" גיבורי הסרט הם שלושה שותפים לדירה, נועם, לולו ויהלי. נועם (אוהד קנולר) מוכר דיסקים בחנות האוזן השלישית, לולו (דניאלה וירצר) מוכרת ב"סבון של פעם" ויהלי (אלון פרידמן) מנהל משמרת בבית הקפה "אורנה ואלה". הם מנסים לחיות חיים רגילים, כמו צעירים בני גילם בערים הגדולות בעולם, ולהתעלם מהכבדות של החיים בישראל. אבל החיים הם יותר מסובכים. חייהם משתנים כאשר מגיע לתל אביב אשרף (יוסוף סוויד) צעיר פלשתיני שנועם פגש בעת שרות מילואים בגדה המערבית. השלושה מחליטים לאמץ את אשרף ולהפוך אותו לאחד משלהם. הם ממציאים לו זהות בדויה, מוצאים לו עבודה, ומניחים שהענינים יסתדרו. אבל הענינים כמובן אינם מסתדרים ובסופו של דבר הם יגלו שהמציאות חזקה מהם. "הבועה" מצולם ברובו באתרים מוכרים בתל אביב, והעיר עצמה היא לא רק רקע כי אם ישות נוכחת בו.
This is the story of 3 young Israelis, two guys and a girl, who share an apartment on Sheinkin St, in the heart of the Tel Aviv's coolest neighborhood. Noam (Ohad Knoller) sells CD's at "The Third Ear" a famous alternative music store, while Lulu (Danialla Wircer) works at "Grandma's Soap store" and Yali (Alon Friedman) runs "Orna and Ella" the street's hip café. During the days they all work hard, sneaking cigarette breaks in the back yard, or smoking pot on some rooftop. In the evenings they go out to drink, look for sex, or just stay at home staring at whatever's on TV. They don't care about the country's problems or the conflicts of the Middle East. But when they hang out at Alon's Café? They make sure they don't sit by the window. It's not that they are afraid of suicide bombers, but better be safe than sorry. Their escapist life will change forever when Noam falls in love with Ashraf (Yossef Sweid), a Palestinian guy he briefly meets while doing his reserve duty at a check point in the west bank. Ashraf escapes the horrors of his life and comes to Tel Aviv. The three Israelis decide to illegally hide him in their apartment and make him part of their family. The young Palestinian is taken by the permissive energetic city life of his new lover and friends. At times, it seems they could change the world they live in, but as their story unravels, so does the bitter truth - their love and friendship cannot withhold the harsh realities of their existence. This film, which will mesh, music, shopping, gays, Palestinians, love, prejudice and whatnot, will show a different view of young Israeli life. On one hand, it will be hard not to relate to this group of naive young people, just wanting to share their lives and love. And on the other hand, the cruel existence which compels one of them to carry out an extreme, almost insufferable action will probably leave viewers very troubled.
