Eric (Jérémie Renier), lycéen solitaire et taciturne, a perdu son père alors qu'il avait 12 ans et ne s'entend pas du tout avec René (Johan Leysen), le nouveau compagnon de sa mère Hélène (Aurore Clément). Chaque nuit, il observe avec des jumelles la vie de ses voisins Tom (Sami Bouajila) and Fabienne (Alexia Stresi), auxquels il envoie régulièrement des lettres anonymes. Persuadé que sa prof d'histoire, Chanvert (Florence Masure), dissimule un secret, il se met à la suivre après les cours et finit par découvrir qu'elle entretient une liaison avec un élève, Karim (Ouassini Embarek). Every night, He spies on his neighbours Tom (Sami Bouajila) and Fabienne (Alexia Stresi) with a pair of binoculars, makes detailed notes of what he sees and then includes his observations in a series of poisonous anonymous letters regularly. Persuaded that his History teacher Miss Chanvert (Florence Masure) keeps a secret, he starts to do it after lessons and ends up discovering that she maintains a link with a student named Karim (Ouassini Embarek). News travels fast causing the immediate dismissal of the teacher. The antisocial behaviour of Eric soon awakens the curiosity of Marie (Emma de Caunes), one of his schoolmates...
